Joyce Jean Shear

Joyce “Doey Cross” Shear, age 77, went home to her Lord and Savior on March 15th, 2021. Joyce was born to the late Michael and Myrtle Cross on October 4th, 1943. Beloved wife to the late Donald Shear Sr. Cherished mother to Donald Shear Jr. of Farwell, MI and Tammy (nee Shear) Sanchez of Eastpointe, MI. Adored grandmother to Matthew Shear, Katie Shear, Abel Sanchez III, Alexander Sanchez and the late Nicholas E. Shear. Dear great-grandmother to Ashlyn Raper and Nicholas A. Shear. Loving sister-in-law to Bonnie Cross, Shirley (Jay) Kinsey, Edith (Jerry) Beck, Virginia (David) Furman, Karolyn (Larry) Cotter and Marilyn (Donald) Bauer. Joyce was predeceased by her siblings Robert “Boots” Cross, Roland “Cork” Cross, MaryAnn “Mitze” Wineland, Virginia “Virgie” Beechler, Ronald “Buzz” Cross, Nancy “Deanie” Cross, and Michael J. Cross. She was also predeceased by her niece Renee Wineland and nephews Richard Cross, Charles Furman, and James Furman. She will also be missed by many nieces, nephews and close friends.

Joyce was known for her big heart, great laugh, and strong devotion to God. She was married to Donald on October 28th, 1961. Together they raised a beautiful family and instilled strong family values and love of God into their children.

Visitation for Joyce will be on Sunday March 21st from 1 to 8 PM with a scripture service at 6 PM. Visitation will be at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A funeral Mass will take place on Monday March 22nd at 10:30 AM at St. Margaret of Scotland Catholic Church, 21201 E 13 Mile Road, St Clair Shores, MI 48082. The service will be officiated by Rev. Ronald J. DeHondt. For those who cannot attend, the Mass will be live streamed at https://www.youtube.com/smscsmass/ . Joyce will be laid to rest on Tuesday March 23rd at 11 AM at Surrey Township Cemetery in Farwell, MI. A graveside service will be officiated by Msgr. Frances Koper.
