Judy I. (Berning) Markle passed away on September 1, 2018 in Grosse Pointe Park, Michigan after a long battle with Alzheimers disease. Born in Cincinnati, Ohio on January 9, 1943 to Ed and Irene (Bennette) Berning she is preceded by her brothers Ralph, Paul, and Ken. Driven by a deep spiritual faith Judy is best remembered for her dedication to human rights, social justice, environmental protection and conservancy, and nuclear disarmament which was well demonstrated by her volunteerism, advocacy, and activism throughout her lifetime. From delivering Meals on Wheels in Detroit, running support groups for breast cancer and domestic violence at the Downriver YWCA, protesting nuclear arms in Oak Ridge, TN, and marching with the Peace Action Network in multiple states to bring the struggles throughout the world to light; Judys commitment was effective and commendable. Judy received degrees from Wayne State University in Liberal Arts and Social Work and was an active member of St. Ambrose Parish during her time in Michigan. Judy will be deeply missed by her husband of 50 years, David, daughter Ruth, sons Gordon and Matthew (Vida) Markle and grandchildren Zoe Rose and Julia, along with Ken Irvin and Patricia Droulliard who gave her tremendous comfort and care in her final years. Funeral Mass and Interment will be held on October 27, 2018 at Grailville National Office Campus, 931 O'Bannonville Rd., Loveland, Ohio 45140-9705. The funeral Mass will be in the Oratory at 3:00 PM and officiated by Father George Wilson. Interment will take place in Grailville (member) Cemetery. A reception will follow at St. Brigid's meeting house on Grailvilles' campus.
