Katherine Lawrence Tazzia

Katherine Tazzia , 82, of Grosse Pointe Shores, Michigan, passed away on Saturday, December 19 2015 Born March 9, 1933 in Detroit, Michigan. She was the loving wife of the late George Kahlil Tazzia for 35 Years and daughter of the late Cass Lawrence and Valerie Lawrence. She was the sister of Christine Scheuerman and the late Rosalie Higgins. She is survived by five deeply loved children, Gabrielle Tazzia (Jim Schaefer) of Ann Arbor, Maryellen (Bill) Lewandowski , of Farmington Hills, Julie (Paul) Weber of Fredericksburg, Virginia, Charlie (Dana) Tazzia of Grosse Pointe, Peter (Linda) Tazzia of Oakland Township. Her 14 adored grand children and 2 step-grandchildren knew her as Nanu : Wesley, Audrey, Rosalyn Schaefer, Joseph, Matthew, and Jacqueline Lewandowski , Nicholas, Leslie, Margo, and Gretchen Weber , Elyse Tazzia, Ben and Daphne Saxon, Blake, Shane, and Brooke Tazzia. Also remembering her are her 3 grand dogs, Barney, Duke, and Cookie. Katherine will be remembered for her loving kindness, her wit and humor, and her quiet way of teaching those who would listen. She will be missed deeply. Memorial services will be conducted at 12 noon on Saturday, January 2nd, 2016 at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford, in Grosse Pointe Woods with Fr. Ray Stadmeyer officiating. Visitation will be at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, also on January 2nd, starting at 9:30 AM. Donations can be made to the Detroit Institute of Arts or the Capuchin Soup Kitchen. A luncheon will immediately follow the mass.
