Laila Jean Abud

Laila was born in Canonsburg, PA August 24, 1938 to Thomas and Julia Shehab. Her family moved to Detroit, MI and she married Joseph Abud on May 5, 1957. They had three children Fr. Joe (Kh. Leslee), Tommy, and Vicki, along with five grandchildren, Nicholas, John (Nawal), and Joanna Abud, Denye and Kara Toma, and one great-grandchild, Julian.

Laila was the heart and soul of her family, known for being a strong-willed woman and caring mother. Throughout the years, many people considered her as “Aunt Laila”. Laila was ahead of her time as she moved up at Farmer Jack’s to become an Executive Secretary to the Vice President. Following this, she became very successful in real estate.

Husband Joseph and daughter Vicki preceded Laila in death. She gave us so many wonderful memories. She leaves behind many nieces, nephews, and relatives across the country, Dr. John and Magdalene Jarad, along with her longtime faithful friend and co-worker Kay Rinke.

The Funeral Service will take place on February 25th at the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church 21800 Marter Rd, St Clair Shores, MI 48080 at 12:30pm with proistamenos Fr. Michael Varlamos officiating.

Visitation from 11:30am-12:30pm. A Meal of Mercy follows the funeral at Assumption Church. There will be a private family burial.
