

Larry Trayner, age 64, died on Tuesday, December 8, 2020, at Wm. Beaumont Hospital, in Troy, from Covid-19 and related health issues. He was born on September 21, 1956, in Detroit, Michigan, the son of Bernard and Genevieve Trayner. Larry graduated from St. Rita’s School for the Deaf located in Cincinnati, Ohio, in 1975.
Larry began his Postal Career in 1975. He held various positions in his 45 year career. His current position was Lead Clerk at the National Distribution Center (NDC) in Allen Park, Michigan. He was also involved in the American Postal Workers Union (APWU) throughout his career. He was a proud member of the APWU and held many positions. He was a Union Steward, Deaf Specialist and a member of the National Deaf Task Force.Â
Larry will be sorely missed in the Deaf community. He was an active member at St. John’s Deaf Center having a strong belief in his Catholic faith. He was also involved with other Deaf organizations in Detroit and statewide. Larry was a member of the Detroit Association for the Deaf for many years. It was Larry’s passion to give his ideas and have a helping hand in making deaf lives better.Â
Larry was also a cancer survivor and formed the group Journey of Hope. This was the Deaf Center Support Group which Larry was very proud. A group of cancer survivors and caregivers coming together to share thoughts and be inspired by one another.Â
Larry is the loving and beloved husband of Annette (nee: Madden) for 38 years. Beloved father of Nanette Bray and granddaughters Emmalyn Alexa and Harper Grace. Larry is the brother of Paul (Mary) and Jerry (Stephanie). Larry is survived and adored by many cousins, nieces and nephews.Â
Public visitation for Larry Trayner will be held on Sunday, December 20th from 2:00pm to 6:00pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road, at Masonic, in Warren. Rosary prayer service to be held at 6:00pm. Because of COVID-19 and as caution for others, there will be a 25 person limit throughout. Masks and social distancing are required. Interment will be on Monday, December 21st, at St. Hedwig Cemetery and will be private.Â
The family has suggested tributes to Larry’s memory may be made to St. John’s Deaf Center.
