Leland P. Allcut

Leland Pemble Allcut Jr., age 83, died Sunday, January 8th, 2012 at William Beaumont Hospital of Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the son of Leland P Sr.and Mildred (nee Scherer) Allcut, on May 9th, 1928. Leland was a proud graduate of Denby High School Class of 1946. He served as a reservist with the U.S. Marine Corps from June 1947 thru June 1953. During his lifetime, Leland was employed by Burton Abstract & Title Co., Citizens Mortgage, Raham Mortgage, and 1st Federal Savings & Loan Association as a Loan Officer. He retired in May 1997 from 1st.Federal: afterwards, he was employed by Chirco Title Co. as a Mortgage Closer. Leland was very involved in his community and served on the Board of Canvassers Grosse Pointe Woods, a past member of Grosse Pointe Woods Historical Committee, a member of Grosse Pointe Men's Ecumenical Breakfast Group, Member of Barracuda Club, Board Member of Villagers Dance Club, life Member of Mt. Clemens Masonic Lodge #6 F&AM, Masonic York Rite, and Knights Templar. Leland's favorite hobbies included playing cards, gardening, dancing, and driving his sports car, a Mazda Miata. Leland is survived by his beloved companion of 23 years, Nancy Velek. He was the loving father to Dee Dee Milligan of Tampa, FL; Debra (J.R. Lang) Jones of Dunnellon, FL; and Gregg (Sandi) Allcut of Sacramento, CA.. Proud grandfather of Amanda Milligan, Alex Milligan, Elizabeth Allcut and Thomas Allcut He is survived by his sister Gloria (Robert) Barnes of Dearborn, MI. Leland was uncle to George Barnes, David (Kim) Barnes, and Dixie Barnes. Also survived by his extended family David (Karon) Velek and their infant son, Will. The funeral service will be held on Friday 6:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Military Honors will follow the service.
