Lieselotte Elizabeth Serfass, age 94 of Sterling Heights, passed away April 20, 2019. Lee was born to Fredrick and Helene (nee Weiss) Salber in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania where she had many happy memories of her childhood. During World War II, Lee worked at the Toms River Signal Corp Laboratory in Bethlehem, Pennsylvania as well as at the Bethlehem Steel Company where she inspected 6" and 8" artillery shells. She met her husband Henry there and insisted on calling him Richard throughout their marriage. She and Richard moved to Grand Rapids in 1954 and raised their family there until moving to the Detroit area in 1964. Lee enjoyed working as a Para-Pro in Special Education in Michigan for 12 years and then energetically worked at her sons store, Moby Dick Pet Store, for over 20 years. She was a Eucharist Minister at St. Malachy Catholic Church for many years and also a volunteer at Medilodge Nursing Home for over 40 years where she organized games and entertainment for the residence. In Lees free time, which she had little of, she sought adventure. Amongst many things, she wrestled alligators in Florida. Most of all, Lee took care of her family with great care and kindness. She is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Beloved wife of the late Henry Richard "Hank" Serfass. Loving mother of Susan (the late James) Rakowski, Richard Henry (Karen) Serfass and Gary Serfass. Proud great-grandmother of Jordyn, Emma, David Jr., Zach, Andrew, Alyssa, Jenna Lee, Sean, Jamie, Brooklyn, Brenden, Zoey, Brennan and Everett. Dear sister of the late Gertrude, Elizabeth, Hildagarde and Fred Jr. Extraordinary friend of Sr. Miriam Kennedy. Lee is also survived by many loving nieces, nephews and cousins.
