Sister to Gloria (deceased), Charlotte (deceased), Beverly (deceased), and Elaine. Aunt to many, many nieces and nephews.
Lolly was born February 13, 1939 to Sam and Adele Saad. She grew up on the east side of Detroit with her loving parents and four sisters. She graduated from St. Martin of Tours in 1956. She met her late husband, Donald Szynkowski, at Parke-Davis. Lolly was an incredible mother to three children, Marie, Joseph, and Laura. She worked as a secretary at St. David for 16 years and Harmon Elementary in Lakeview Schools for 10 years before she retired and took on the role as the best grandma, playing a huge role in all her grandchildren’s lives. She is cherished for her warm heart, compassion for everyone around her, wonderful cooking, and silly dancing.
Lolly was a staple in her community as the “Mack Ave Walker” and active churchgoer at Saint Joan of Arc. She loved animals and kept all the squirrels, birds, and rabbits in her backyard well fed. Most importantly, she had the biggest sweet-tooth and loved her peppermint patties and gum drops from her famous candy drawer that was always fully stocked.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to St. Jude. Donations can be accepted through their website (https://www.stjude.org/donate/donate-to-st-jude.html?sc_icid=header-btn-donate-now).
Lolly’s family thanks the wonderful staff at Custom Care Hospice, with a special thank you to her nurse, Michelle, for their exemplary and compassionate care during her final months.
