

Louis Vlahantones Lou, age 93, was born in Wyandotte, Michigan, to parents Panayiota and Panayiotis who immigrated from Kalamata, Greece. As a CPA, Lou received his Bachelor of Business degree from the Detroit Institute of Technology and went on for graduate studies at Wayne State University. He started his career with the firm now known as Price Waterhouse Coopers and established his own firm in 1971. He also established and was president of a real estate development company known as Donovan and Associates. He became a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and Michigan Association of Certified Public Accountants. Lou remained active in his firm with his partner, John Tangelos. Lou served in many organizations including the Hellenic Board of Trade as President and Commander of the VFW. He was President of the Wayne University Fraternal Organization and the Hellenic University Club. He was appointed ARCHON of the Greek Orthodox Archdiocese of America in 1968, an honor Lou was pleased and grateful to receive. Archbishop Iakovos bestowed the medal of St. Paul to Lou as well. A visionary, leader, and mentor for his faith and community, Lou was most worthy of this recognition. As a lifetime member of the Assumption Greek Orthodox Church in St. Clair Shores, he led the parish as Parish Council President and as financial advisor for decades. He helped established athletic teams, which were the forerunner of the OYAA, Orthodox Youth Athletic Association. Lou is the beloved husband of Toni and the late Georgia and loving father of the late Peter, (Pam). Lou was the proud grandfather of P.J. (Kerry) and Nicholas and great-grandfather of Gianna, and Georgia. He was the dear brother of Helen (late Charles) Balton, Michael and the late Tony. He is survived by many loving nieces and nephews and predeceased by loving niece Diana. Visitation Tuesday 4-8pm with a Trisagion at 7pm at Assumption Greek Orthodox Church, 21800 Marter Rd., St. Clair Shores 48080. Instate 10 am until the time of funeral at 10:30am at the Church. In lieu of flowers donations may be made to Assumption Greek Orthodox Church's Endowment Fund.
