Louis Khalil Arida

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Louis Arida and Marlene Arida, beloved husband and wife, whose devotion to each other, their family and community was an inspiration to all who knew them. Marlene passed away on May 2, 2025, and Louis followed her on May 5, 2025, their lives forever intertwined in love.

Married for 57 years, Lou and Marlene built a beautiful life rooted in generosity and compassion for others.

An engineer, fisherman, and patriarch of his large family, Lou was known for his laughter, sense of humor, Lebanese cooking, storytelling, entrepreneurship, and brilliant mind. Marlene will be remembered for her warm hospitality, modern style, culinary talent, administrative skills, and loving attention to others.

World travelers, they were proud to sponsor over 20 families and friends as citizens who thrived in this land of opportunity. Their greatest joys in life were as Sitto and Jiddo for Lil and Teddy, and the many good times shared with family and friends at Fish Lake. Together, they shared a love that radiated through every gathering, meal, and tradition in their homes.

They are survived by their twin children, Charles Louis Arida II “Chuck” (Christopher Lehmann) and Holly Arida (Jonathan Moody); their cherished grandchildren, Liliana and Teddy Arida-Moody; sisters, Therese Issa and Clair Aouad; brother, Tony (Neran) Arida; and many adoring nieces, nephews, cousins, and friends who surrounded them in love unto their deaths.

Louis and Marlene (Joseph) Arida are predeceased by their parents Khalil and Asma (Copty) Arida and Norman and Lillian Joseph, and by their siblings, Marie (Michael) Haddad, Antoinette Arida, Paul (Denise surviving) Arida, Charles Joseph, and Leon (Margaret) Joseph.

A joint funeral service will be held Friday, May 16, 2025 at 11AM, with an Instate beginning at 10AM, at St. Maron Maronite Church, 11466 Kercheval Ave, Detroit, MI 48214.
