Louis Anthony Mascia (77) passed away peacefully on January 18, 2021. Louis was born May 6, 1943 in Detroit to first generation Italian parents, along with his sister, Lauren Mascia. A graduate of St. Anthony High School, Louis attended Wayne State University and ultimately began his longtime career as a hairdresser. While working at Alexanders Salon, he met his future wife, Anna Marie Moscara.  Over their 52 years of marriage, Lou and Ann were inseparable and enjoyed many adventures together. They had two daughters, Nicole and Lea, and eventually gained a son when Lea married David. His love for his family was evident to all especially when he became “Papa†to his two grandchildren, Nicholas and Gabriella.
He was known for his love of life and big heart, but also his ability to make things beautiful whether it was a hairstyle, gift wrapping, gardening, or decorating his home.   Holidays were especially important to him and he spared no expense and committed so much time to ensure every detail was perfect. His sense of style was impeccable and legendary, especially his trademark sweater tied loosely around his neck. Lou loved to dance since he was a teen, and was even a regular on a local tv dance show. He never left the dance floor at weddings and was eveyone’s favorite dance partner. He also loved attending his grandkids’ sporting events and school functions, vacationing in Siesta Key with family, or entertaining in his beautiful backyard. He loved being a hairdresser, and continued to work 5 days a week at a wonderful salon where he was affectionately called the “rockstarâ€. Lou will always be known for his famous bartending skills, his excellent restaurant reviews, and his amazing memory.
Gone too soon but never forgotten. May we all follow his lead, and live life to its fullest.Â
Visitation for Louis will be held on Monday, January 25th from 3 PM to 8 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236. A funeral Mass will be on Tuesday, January 26th at 10 AM at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack Ave, St. Clair Shores, MI 48080.
