Louise A. Gagne

Louise Gagne passed away on February 26, 2011 at the age of 83. She was born in Detroit on October 17, 1927; daughter of Louis and Mary (nee Perri) Valentino. Mrs. Gagne retired in the mid 80's from Freuhauf Trailer. She was active in the Ladies Auxillary of Amvets Post 57. She was the past President of the Second Chance Hearts Club through St. John Hospital where she also helped the sick as a volunteer. Louise was known to love animals and would visit the casinos for entertainment. She loved playing golf in her earlier years. Later in life she served her community as a lunch lady at Trombley and Maire Elementary Schools. Mrs. Gagne leaves behind her loving son Jeffery Louis (Pamela) and daughter Denise VanSlembrouck (Jerry). She was very proud of her grandchildren Danielle Love (Scott), Ruth Brown (Seth), Allison, Kelsey, and Evan. She was predeceased by her husband of 62 years Richard in 2010. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 5:00-9:00 pm and Wednesday from 2:00-9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Rosary will be recited at 3:30 pm. She will lie in state at St. Matthew Catholic Church 6021 Whittier, Detroit, on Thursday from 8:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 9:00 am. Father Duane Novelly will officiate. Interment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Detroit.
