Lynn L. Murphy passed away peacefully Tuesday March 25, 2025 at the age of 85. Son, Brother, Father, Uncle and Friend he is survived by his wife Ann Murphy, Son Sean Murphy (Beverly), Daughter Colleen Murphy, 7 grand children, 2 great grand children, 4 siblings, many in-laws, nieces, & nephews. Predeceased by his son Timothy Murphy. A man of faith, he was a member of St. Joan of Arc Parish since childhood. Raised across the street from St. Joan of Arc on Murphy’s Nursery, he was frequently called upon to fill in as an alter boy, especially at the early masses.
Growing up on the nursery, he developed a deep love and knowledge of nature, which he parlayed into his first career as a landscaper. His homes always featured the most beautiful and unique landscaping, along with carefully designed decks and gazebos.
Lynn proudly served in the Army reserves during the Cold War where he formed several life-long friendships. He had a great love of military and American History and was an avid reader. He enjoyed his Detroit & Michigan sports teams and the Universities of Detroit & Michigan.
Lynn earned his Bachelors & Masters degrees from the University of Detroit. Transitioning from Landscaping into property management, he worked at several Detroit area banks. In the early 1980’s he again changed careers and partnered in a Paper Shredding company, eventually going out on his own in 1991. He ran his own business until the end.
Raising 3 children, he was frequently called upon to drive, support, assist and even coach his son’s hockey teams, traveling all over for tournaments from Lake Placid to Toronto to Chicago. He could always be counted on to help his kids no matter the problem, cost or location. He would come up with a creative solution.
Services to be held at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church on Saturday April 5, 2025. Visitation with family starting at 9am, Mass at 10am with luncheon to follow in the church hall.
