Madeline Stanek

Mary "Madeline" Stanek passed away peacefully, with her family by her side on October 14, 2019 at the age of 87. She was born on July 19, 1932 in Detroit; daughter of Michael and Katherine (nee Surovec) Demchak. Mrs. Stanek was a retired teacher from the Warren Consolidated School District. She was a member and past officer of Slovak Catholic Sokols. Madeline was a devout Catholic. She enjoyed playing cards, especially Pinochle. She welcomed family and friends with open arms and will be remembered for her caring and giving nature. Her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren were her greatest gifts in life. She was a loving mother to Teresa Stanek Rea (Patrick), John D. (Mary Beth), Kathy Osinski (Mark), Diane Roney (Ted), and Veronica M. Stanek. She was proud of her grandchildren Bradley, Lauren, Audrey, Jennifer, Kelly, Linda, Christine, Leslie, Ted, Brian, Kevin, and the late Caroline. She adored her great-grandsons Henry and Charles. She will be missed by her brother Jim Demchak. She was predeceased by her loving husband Dominic, and brothers John and Michael. Visitation will be held on Friday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm with a rosary recited at 4:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Mrs. Stanek will lie instate on Saturday from 11:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at noon at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church, 157 Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms. Father Craig Marion will officiate. Madeline will be interred next to her beloved husband Dominic at Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Twp.
