Mamie Mirasola, a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on November 26, 2024 just two days after celebrating her 103rd birthday. Her life was a testament to resilience, joy, and an unbreakable spirit that touched the lives of countless friends and family members.
Born in Detroit, Michigan on November 24, 1921, Mamie lived through more than a century of incredible change, and she embraced each decade with her characteristic spunk and determination. She was known for her incredible cookies, which were sought after by generations of family and friends. Her kitchen was always warm, filled with the sweet aroma of freshly baked treats and the sound of her infectious laughter.
Mamie was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Benny, and her son August. Despite experiencing significant personal loss, she remained a pillar of strength and optimism. Her two surviving children, Vito (Sherry) and Virginia (Stephen) were constant sources of pride and joy in her later years.
A Detroit Tigers fan, Mamie never missed a game on television and could often be found discussing baseball statistics with anyone willing to listen.
Throughout her 103 years, Mamie witnessed remarkable historical events, from the Great Depression to the moon landing. Her sharp wit and spunky personality made her the center of attention at family gatherings and events.
She is survived by her two children, five grandchildren, and six great-grandchildren, who will forever cherish her memory of love, resilience, and the world's best cookies.
A celebration of Mamie's life will be held at St. Joan of Arc church on Tuesday, December 3rd at 9:30am. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Capuchin Soup Kitchen.
