

Margaret Peggy (Echelmeier) Roach passed away on September 3, 2019 after a long battle with cancer. She was born on July 31, 1935 in Detroit; daughter of Otto and Betty (Jarvis) Echelmeier. Peggy was a very active woman. In her younger years she enjoyed roller skating. She could be found working out at the Grosse Pointe War Memorial or doing aerobics at the Grosse Pointe Woods Community Center. Her wonderful personality enabled her to converse with anyone making her very socially active and the life of the party. Later on she became known around the ice rinks as Coach Roach, dedicating herself to her daughters figure skating career. Her faith was strong and she was a member of Christ the King Lutheran Church for many years then went back to her childhood roots of Catholicism. She would visit daily many local Catholic churches. She loved all animals, especially ducks. Her biggest love in life was her family and always looked forward to weekly family dinners and any event that would come up. She leaves behind her loving husband of 52 years; Martin. She was proud of her daughter Jennifer Wengel (William). She loved and adored her granddaughters Claire and Melissa. She will be missed by her sister Joan Foersterling (Richard). Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 7, 2019 from 3 pm to 8 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home Vernier and Mack, Grosse Pointe Woods. Memorial contributions may be made in Peggys name to the Doris Day Animal Foundation.
