2020 at home in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. Margaret was born in London, England
on July 30, 1932 to Charles and Ellen Key. She arrived in Canada after WW2,
working for the Canadian government at the United Nations and later landed in
NYC where she met Wilson Rogers. They married in 1959 in NYC and enjoyed 61
years of marriage. In 1971, they moved from NJ to Michigan. Margaret then
worked for the G.P. School System for 25 years, lastly as the administrative
secretary at G.P. North high school. Margaret’s British accent helped her make
friends wherever she went, especially when traveling around the world. Her
devotion to her church included volunteering at the Thrift Shop, Altar Guild,
Sweet Noelle cookie exchange and Episcopal Church Women. She especially
enjoyed cooking/baking, reading a good book and cheering for Michigan State
Spartans and Detroit Tigers. She never missed a birthday and was the first to
reach out to anyone in need. A devoted wife, mother, and grandmother,
Margaret is survived by her husband Wilson Rogers; her daughters Kim Rogers
Powell (Robb) of Belmont, NC and Hilary Marie-Rogers Atabak (Jack)of Lake
Orion, MI; grandchildren, Kelley & Allison Powell, Brian & David Atabak (fiancée
Sarah Hayward). She also leaves behind numerous nephews, nieces, family,
friends and neighbors, especially from her St. Michael’s Episcopal Church, and
her G.P. school communities. A memorial service will be held at a later date at
the church when the COVID pandemic subsides, hopefully in the spring/summer
2021. Memorial contributions may be made to St. Michael’s Episcopal Church,
20475 Sunningdale Park, Grosse Pointe Woods MI 48236.
