Dear Illene, I am so sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. The grief of losing my mother tore at my heart. I read your mom's news article about her making a bride's day special by designing her veil. I remember going to your parents home for a Halloween party and seeing all the material and bead on the dining room table. I thought how cool that would be to make hats. I know you have found memories of her designs. It was a wonderful article and written with a lot of love. You're in my thoughts and prayers.

My mother was an accomplished businesswoman in a time when this was unusual, as well as a successful grandmother, mother, wife, daughter, sister and aunt. Her daughters are what we are because of her. Five female college graduates in the days before women outnumbered men at college. Five women who would not be where we are today but for her and her wonderful husband, whom we loved dearly, our Dad. Goodbye Mom. We love you so very much. Your kindness and love will continue forever through us, your wonderful and patient sons-in-law, through your terrific grandsons, through your sister, and all of your nieces and nephews and their children. Thanks for everything. Take care of Dad. See you soon.

Momma was my only grandparent of mine that watched me grow up. My mom and dad never put me in daycare when they had to work, so momma would watch me all day. Id always pop into the kitchen & ask for chocolate milk, take out all her pots pans, & cans, switch every light off & on. Wed read the ninja turtles pizza book and play poker. Whenever we had to drive her to dr. ya ya or dr. jayakar to get her checked out she was always happy that I was right behind her in the back seat even though I didnt say much. After every doctor appointment, hair appointment, or trip to Kroger we always went out to eat, to big boys or bill knapps. Almost after every time shed slip me a few bucks. Lets not think of it as shes gone now; lets just think that shes in a more comfortable place,reunited with Grandpa Johnny. Now theyre watching us live our lives in which she always cared for so much.

"MM", My mother's bridal business, crowned Detroit gals with beautiful veils & hats designed & hand crafted by her & her "girls". Marie was passionate about making sure that each of her brides looked their best. She always said: "It's not what it looks like. It's what it looks like on YOU, honey". Having owned Schultz custom millinery shop on Woodward in Highland Park with her sister Irene Bialkowski (then Szulczyk), in 1944 Marie (then Szulczyk) was styling in the heyday of hats with her youngest sister Clara (Bruno) always ready to help make a sale. Taking a break to marry the love of her life John Mazura and have her five daughters, by the 1960's she was back in the business with bridal wear. Each one of her daughters and nieces wore her veils down the aisle . Marie leaves a legacy of beauty, having blessed the lives of everyone she met. My mother never gave up. She inspired us with her stamina, her wisdom, her faith and of course her love. Mama, you will always be with us.

As Marie's oldest grandson it was very hard for me to be overseas when she passed away. It was difficult for me not to be there as those I loved mourned for her. But I took heart in all the wonderful memories I have of Grandma and the care and loving she showed me and all her grandsons through her whole life (I started walking while she and Grandpa Mazura were watching me). She even made it to my high school graduation, though it was hard for her to travel at that point. I only wish that I could have seen her one last time and told her how much that I loved her.

Auntie Marie was a very dear person who was so loved by all her nieces and nephews as well as her children and grandchildren. She left her mark here on this world and will missed very much by all those that loved her. May she rest in eternal peace.

While I never meet Marie, I feel that I knew her from hearing about her from her daughter Adrienne. She clearly was a remarkable woman -- so talented. She was an accomplished business lady at a time when that was rare and so difficult. She clearly was also an outstanding mother, daughter and wife.

Marie's daughter, Adrianne was my best friend throughout high school and my maid of honor at my wedding. As a teenager, I was frequently at Adrianne's house in St. Clair Shores and remember Marie to be a kind hearted, loving mother. I usually saw Marie with a bridal veil in hand being sewn. She was industious and creative and liked creating beauty for someone's special day. She will be warmly remembered and sorely missed.

My Auntie Marie was the best and I miss her very much. Our families are very close and I have so many fond memories growing up together. Thanks, Auntie, for your love, caring and being such a wonderful part of my life. Love always, Josie

Illene, I am very fortunate to have known your mum, if only briefly in her life and mine. I will always remember her kindness and attentiveness towards me as she welcomed me into her home, making sure that I had the very best from her kitchen. Most of all, I will always remember the way she smiled with her eyes, making me feel so very comfortable in her presence. My heartfelt condolences to you, Gail, Adrianne, Gerardette, Jacqueline, and Aunt Clara, and everyone in your families for your loss. To all my Mazura Sisters: I am so sorry to hear about your mom's passing. She was such a great lady! As others have mentioned she was an artist and shared her art with those of us who worked for her. Bernie and I beaded, sewed, ironed under her watchful eye, always encouraging and making us do rework if necessary. Then of course John would make a yummy lunch! I definitely felt like I was a 6th sister. I would like to add a message from my mom as well. She and Marie were hardworking savvy business women, of strong Polish stock. They knew how to laugh and run their business with a strong hand and velvet touch. They kept in touch over the years and I know my mom will miss her very much! Love to all of you! To my cousins, Auntie was my godmother and a second mother to me, Josie and my brothers. I will never forget the outings with her when I was a little girl: movies at Fairlane, trips to the cottage, Richardson's, Suzie-Q and Christmas Eve. Your mom was an accomplished designer of ladies hats and bridal veils and I was fortunate to work for her as a teenager beading hats and sewing lace and alongside her at Kitty Kelly. I will miss her dearly but feel blessed to have all the wonderful memories. Auntie lived a long and fulfilling life and is now at peace in heaven. All of you are in my thoughts and prayers.

Mrs Mazura helped to teach me many things, NOT just how to bead a veil. But how to go the extra step, no matter how busy she was. She always had a little city-chicken hidden away just for me at the party, never failed to have a candy dish of my favorite Sanders's stuffed raspberry candies at Christmas. She so adored her girls, her Johnny, and her Father (Dziadzia to the rest of us). I, one of many, will miss her. I thank her for the lessons AND all the kind things she did

Thank you so much for sending me this announcement, Ilene. I will always remember your mom, like Marmee in Little Women. My first trip to New York City was with you and your mom. We went bead shopping, Aurora Borealis, on 38th street. I made a few trips there for her after I moved to the city. Many years later as an art collector I bought a painting, which I appreciated immediately, made entirely of aurora borealis sequin and glitter, it was a "self portrait."
