Marilyn Lister was an outstanding student who succeeded in putting her considerable skills to good use throughout her long and happy life. It began to emerge in elementary school but came to fruition when she was challenged by the rigors of Michigan State University. She gained a Bachelor of Arts degree in elementary education focusing on math, English, and social studies. She later went on to broaden her skills by graduating from Saginaw Valley State University with a Masters Degree. Testimony to her skills Marilyn was cited four times by "Who's Who Among America's Teachers" a production that honored our nation's most respected teachers. By sheer magnetism of her personality and innate teaching skills Marilyn gained the respect of countless parents and fellow teachers by guiding any and all who struggled with problems that blocked their progress. Marilyn could help each child find a more effective and more positive attitude that allowed them to become happier and successful. That is a gift. Thank you Marilyn. Marilyn is survived by her beloved husband Kenneth as well as her children Kristen Dietz, Tom Dietz; her step-children Lorraine Tooman, Jennifer Kroll, Bruce Lister, and Brian Liste, also her brother Robert Prince. Loving grandmother of Madison, Emma, Lily, Jack and nine additional grandchildren. Visitation for Marilyn will take place on Tuesday from 3 until 9 pm at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods. The funeral will take place on Wednesday at 10 am. Memorial contributions may be made to The Alzheimer's Foundation.
