
Marjorie L. Chandler died on Friday, December 10, 2010 at the age of 91. She was born on September 18, 1919 in Cleveland, Ohio the daughter of Frederick and Leona Studer. Her family moved to Detroit when she was very young. Marjorie graduated from Grosse Pointe High School in 1937. That same year she met her future husband Bob Chandler. They were married in 1941 at the St. Columba Episcopal Church in Detroit. In her early years, Marjorie worked as a secretary for the McManus, John & Adams Advertising Agency in Detroit. After she became a mother, Marjorie retired and became a full time mother, wife and homemaker. In 1949 the Chandler's moved into Grosse Pointe Woods and lived there until retirement. Mrs. Chandler was active at her church, the St. Michael Episcopal Church in Grosse Pointe Woods and volunteered two days a week at the Church's thrift shop. She was a good mom and good wife. Marjorie is survived by her husband Robert; her children Susan Gauss (Calvin) and James Chandler (Besa); grandchildren, C.J., Mandy, Nicholas and Fani; and great-grandchildren, Chance, Mason, Dominic and Matteo. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 P.M. Saturday, January 8, 2011 at St. Michael Episcopal Church, 20475 Sunningdale Park Drive in Grosse Pointe Woods (48236). Rev. Marianna Gronek will officiate. Inurnment of cremated remains will be at the Church's Memorial Garden. The family has requested memorial donations be made to the Church or the donor's favorite charity.
