Mark Samuel Hanna

Mark S. Hanna, age 59, died Friday, September 14, 2012 at Beaumont Hospital in Grosse Pointe, Michigan. He was born Thursday, October 2, 1952 to Joseph and Marie Hanna in Detroit, Michigan. Mark's committment to education earned him a bachelors degree in Science from Wayne State University. From there, his dedication to his family lead him to become the owner/operator of his families repair shop, Pointe Appliance. When Mark wasn't working, which wasn't often, he enjoyed being outdoors. He loved to fish, hunt and golf. He was also a longtime bowler on many local bowling leagues. Mark was always active. Even through his illness, he remained strong and dynamic. Mark was highly intelligent, but extremely humble and modest. He was down to earth - just a sweet guy and everyone delighted in his presence. He was a quick-witted, kind, caring, generous and selfless man. Mark is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. He was one in a million. Mark married his cherished wife, Rosemary at St. Clare of Montefaclo in Grosse Pointe Park. For 38 years, their love, devotion and friendship never waned. Beloved husband and best friend of Rosemary Hanna for 38 years. Loving father of Lisa (Adam) Michael, Kelly (Matthew) LaCroix and Amy Hanna. Proud grandfather of Genevieve Michael, Trent LaCroix and Ethan LaCroix. Dear brother of Shirley Kelel, Michael Hanna, Thomas Hanna and the late Sharon Easley and William Hanna. Mark is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends. Visitation for Mark will be held Monday, September 17, 2012 from 2:00pm until 9:00pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave. at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Funeral Mass will be held Tuesday, September 18, 2012. Instate from 9:30am until time of mass at 10:00am at St. Lucy Catholic Church, 23401 Jefferson Ave., St. Clair Shores. Memorial contributions may be made to your choice of cancer association.
