Mark Thomas Phipps

Mark Thomas Phipps of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI, passed away at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI on May 22, 2020 from complications of chemotherapy treatment for colon cancer. He was 45 years old.

Mark was born on December 31, 1974 in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI, to Thomas and Judith (nee Mack) Phipps. He was a lifelong resident of Grosse Pointe Woods and graduated from Grosse Pointe North High School in 1993. Mark went on to earn an Associate’s Degree from Macomb Community College in Business. He was an avid sports fan whose enthusiasm would make you smile. Mark enjoyed getting his family and friends together for annual outings to Dakota Inn’s Oktoberfest, family ice skating during the holidays at Campus Martius and Detroit Tiger games. After receiving and recovering from a liver transplant in 2017, Mark had just started volunteering at Beaumont Grosse Pointe Hospital before his cancer diagnosis in January 2020.

Mark was the beloved son of Thomas and Judith, dear brother of Amy (Robert) McIntyre and proud uncle of Alexandra and Morgan McIntyre. Funeral services will be private per wishes of the family. Interment at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East.
