Marvin Maurice Martin Sr.

Marvin Maurice Martin Sr. was born on January 25, 1935, in Danville, West Virginia. He was born to Mildred (nee Spradling) and Virgil Blair Martin. He died peacefully with family by his bedside on Tuesday, April 2, 2019. Marvin was 84 years old. Three months and twenty-four days before his 18th birthday, Marvin entered into the United States Air Force. He spent two years in the Philippines with Intelligence and Security Services. To many in the United States Air force, his existence and the existence of the other soldiers he served with was unknown. They never had a commanding officer; "Everyone just did their job." After two years in the Philippines, Marvin was transferred to Washington D.C. for another two years. Marvin separated from the United States Air Force on September 30, 1956 under an Honorable discharge. Marvin worked for Business Machines Systems from 1956 until 1981. He worked on electronic data processing and was a computer programming analyst for several mortgages companies. In 1981, he started working for McDonald Computers Corporation and enjoyed his job until his retirement in 2015. Marvin is the beloved husband of Mildred Martin. Loving father of Donna Shelby (Bruce), Sandra Taylor (Bruce), and Marvin Martin Jr. Cherished grandfather of Shannon Shelby (Jacqueline), Patrick Shelby, Jennifer Ross (Rick), Trisha Kristiansen (Randi), Kristen McIntire (Mike), and Rebecca Martin (Stefany Specht). Great-grandfather of 4. Brother of William Martin (Ruth), Claude Martin (Kathy) and half-brother of Larry Jones (Barbara). Visitation will be held on Friday, April 5, 2019, from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road at Masonic, Warren. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, April 6, 2019 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Pastor Chris Zarbaugh will be officiating. A committal service will be held immediately following the service at White Chapel Cemetery in Troy, Michigan. Memorial contributions to the Yankee Air Museum or to St. Jude Children's Research Hospital would be appreciated.
