Mary Ann Ruemenapp, 87, died Tuesday, July 23 in her home in St. Clair Shores, MI., after a lengthy illness. She leaves her husband of almost 65 years, Harold Ruemenapp; her daughter Barbara and Barbaras husband Mike and their two daughters Meghann and Kathryn; her son John and Johns wife Sylise; her son David and Daves wife Linda, and their children Adam and Karen; her son Stephen and Steves wife Heather, and their children Sarah, Benjamin, Joey and Bereket. Mary Ann was born and raised in Detroit and later lived in Virginia, Harper Woods, Grosse Pointe and St. Clair Shores. She worked for a time in retail at J.L. Hudsons, and had a great sense of fashion and style. She always took pride in her appearance and looked "put-together" and stylish until her final days. Mary Anns true vocation however, was as a wife and mother. She was devoted to her husband, children and later her grandchildren. One cant begin to count the number of stories she listened to, meals she prepared, loads of laundry she did, rides she provided, dishes she did, advice she dispensed and "funny kisses" she gave--all without complaint and usually with a smile on her face. Few things rattled Mary Ann. She was made of tough stock, and instilled in her kids the desire to work and to work for things that make the world a better place, which has become evident in the vocations her children embarked upon. Her Catholic faith greatly informed her life and helped form the lives of the entire Ruemenapp family. Mary Ann taught all her children how to pray, and they were the better for it. She leaves behind memories of hard work, sincere laughter, authentic faith, and a love for her family that was demonstrated in millions of thoughtful, quiet actions throughout her life. We learned a lot from her, and she will be missed. Memorial gathering Friday 9:30 AM until time of memorial Mass 10 AM at Our Lady Star of the Sea Catholic Church, 467 Fairford Rd, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI. In lieu of flowers memorials can be made to the Capuchin's in Mary Ann's memory. ahpeters.com
