

Mary Therese Hobig passed away Thursday evening at her home with her husband George and her children at her side. She was born in Detroit in 1933, the daughter of A. Joseph and Mary Julia (nee Scheich) Rademacher. Mary and George were married for fifty-nine years. Mrs. Hobig's aunt Delores, a Sisters of St. Joseph nun, said that George and Mary were always in their first love. After George retired they took up square dancing and would travel the country in a motor home. Mrs. Hobig was a member of the Dominican High School class of 1951. Mary was also a life time member of the Font Bonne Society at St. John Hospital. Mary enjoyed doting on her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She would spend time cooking, canning baking wonderful pies and Christmas cookies. Sewing and crocheting were also favorite pastimes. Mary is survived by the love of her life George, her six children Patti Haver (Jack), Jean Bell (Bob), Steve Hobig (Becky), Ken Hobig (Sue), Rick Hobig (Sharon) and Mike Hobig; Her grandchildren Jessica, Jacob, Stephen, Jason, Beth, Jillian, Brian, Matt, Annie, Jenna, Sarah, Liz, Meghan, and Jimmy; great-grandchildren Tobie, Parker, Jared, Owen, Michael, Kayla, Zach, Mackenna, Lachlan, Brody, Fionna, Isabella, Benjamin, and Andrew. Her brother Gene Rademacher also survives her. Mary's daughter Patti quoted her mother as saying that her grandchildren and great-grandchildren made her smile- and that was the best medicine. Visitation for Mrs. Hobig will take place at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods on Sunday from 2:00 pm until 8:00 pm. She will lie instate on Monday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at 10:00 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores. The family would appreciate contributions be made to the Capuchins.
