Born on October 4, 1990, to Michael and Laura Cadieux, Matt grew up as the beloved younger brother to his sister, Nicole. From the very beginning, Matt and Nicole were inseparable: partners in crime, best friends, and each other’s fiercest supporters. Whether they were wrestling in the living room or sharing quiet talks about life, their bond was one of love, laughter, and loyalty.
Matt was known for his big heart and selfless nature. He cared deeply about the people in his life, often putting the needs of others ahead of his own. His friends knew they could always count on him for a listening ear, a helping hand, or an encouraging word.
In high school, Matt formed a close friendship with Lindsay that would become a lifelong partnership. Together they built a home filled with love, laughter, and a small menagerie of pets: Fiona the dog and their snakes: Gilly, Elroy, and the late Casper. Their shared adventures included camping trips, festivals, concerts, and countless weekends spent outdoors.
Some of Matt’s other hobbies he enjoyed were playing disc golf and hacky sack, always up for a friendly game or some laughs around the bonfire. When he wasn’t playing, he enjoyed watching sports: especially hockey and football. This past year, he took particular joy in cheering on the Detroit Lions and sharing that excitement with those around him.
An artist at heart, Matt expressed himself through many forms: drawing, metalworking, ceramics, and music. His creativity had no boundaries. He could even play the didgeridoo, blending his humor and curiosity into everything he touched.
Matt was also a devoted family man. He adored his nieces, who affectionately called him “Uncle Matt,” and he cherished every moment he spent with them. He brought warmth and laughter to family gatherings and even introduced the Parsh family to Polish food for the holidays, creating new traditions that will live on in his honor.
Matt will be remembered for his warmth, generosity, humor, and unwavering love for the people and passions that filled his life. He leaves behind his sister, Nicole Cadieux; his partner, Lindsay Parsh; his grandmother, Jean Kocis, and countless friends and family who were lucky enough to know and love him.
Matt’s light was gentle but powerful, a reminder that kindness, creativity, and love are the truest measures of a life well lived.
A memorial gathering will take place Saturday, November 22nd from 12:00 PM until time of memory sharing at 2:00 PM at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236
