Michael J. Allor

Michael J. Allor, age 50, of St. Clair Shores died peacefully at University Hospital in Ann Arbor on October 18, 2011 after a long battle with leukemia. Mike was born on August 14, 1961 in Grosse Pointe, the son of Richard and Barbara Allor. He grew up in Grosse Pointe Woods and was a graduate of Grosse Pointe North High School. Mike was the owner of Detroit Custom Framing & Gallery located on Mack Avenue in Grosse Pointe Woods. The business was started by Mike's father and has been family owned and operated for over 50 years. Mike was devoted to his family and his business. He had a warm and welcoming personality that drew people to him, creating hundreds of friendships. His love for his wife, daughters, grandchildren, family and friends has been the rock in his struggle the last few months. His family described Mike as a sports fanatic who enjoyed watching hockey, a sport he played in his youth. He was a perfectionist and was meticulous about his yard and maintaining clean cars. Mr. Allor is survived by his loving wife Sherry; daughters, Nicole O'Hara (Brent) and Mandy Ritter (Chris); grandchildren Olivia, Sophie and Teague O'Hara and Alex and Matthew Ritter; his siblings, Deborah Fish (Michael), Richard (Angela), Jeff (Tina), Cindy Stolarz (Jeff) and Beth Hyde (Warren); his father Richard; nieces, Barbara, Petrina, Sydnie, Chloe, Alli, Tiffany and Kelli; nephews, Justin, Peter, James, Rick, Alex, J.D., Tyler, and Michael; father-in-law, Raymond Gillespie; and brother-in-law, Dan (Terri) Gillespie. He was predeceased by his mother, Barbara; his mother-in-law, Mary Lou Gillespie; and nephew, Richard. Memorial visitation will be held from 12 noon to 9:00 pm Friday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. Memorial service 11 am Saturday at Bethel Lutheran Church, 26400 Little Mack, St. Clair Shores with Pastor Hank Flatt officiating.
