

Mildred Fox passed away on April 8, 2012 at Sunrise on Vernier in Grosse Pointe Woods at the age of 93. She was born on June 18, 1918 in Detroit; daughter of Fred and Lydia (nee Ruprecht) Steyer. Mildred was a 1937 graduate of Grosse Pointe (South) High School. She achieved perfect attendance during her four years at school and earned her Girls Athletic Association Letter. She was employed in the cost department of Parke-Davis in Detroit. Mrs. Fox was a member of St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in Grosse Pointe Farms. She was a member of the junior and senior choirs and the Detroit Turners. When not caring for her family, Mildred enjoyed traveling with her family and attending Broadway musicals. In her more active years she enjoyed gardening, bowling and singing in the Church choir. Mildred was also an avid Republican. Her vintage tricycle has been donated and is on display at the Detroit Historical Museum in the Streets of old Detroit display. Mildred was predeceased by her husband Robert in 1997. She leaves behind her loving sons Robert E. (the late Dolly) Fox II and Dean (Christel) Fox. She was proud of her grandchildren Robert E. (Alena) Fox III, Heather M. (Rodney) Williams, David R. Fox, and Peter J. (Deena) Fox. Great-grandmother of Jacob, Annika, and Elijah Williams, and Stephanie Fox. Visitation will begin on Wednesday from 9:00 am until the time of the funeral at 11:00 am at A.H. Peters Funeral Home 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. Reverend Frederick Harms will officiate. Mildred will be buried next to her beloved Robert at Gethsemane Cemetery in Detroit.
