
Nancy Mary Lappin (nee Calabro) July 27, 1937 - January 16, 2021 Nancy was born to Gaspero Calabro and Margherita Calabro (nee Virgilio) in Detroit while they lived on Benson Street, joining half-brothers August J. Calabro and Sam Polizzi, and brother Leo Calabro, all predeceased. They enjoyed their Sicilian customs and culture as a first-generation family in America.
Nancy worked mainly in the insurance business, spending many years with Equitable Life and Blue Cross/Blue Shield in Michigan and California, and later with the Budd Company as a Worker’s Compensation Risk Manager, a position from which she retired after many years of faithful service. She was always well-liked by her coworkers and remained in touch with several after retirement, including Gloria Pearson. Nancy enjoyed working the busy tax-filing season at All Tax during her retirement years.
Nancy enjoyed traveling and skiing with friends until she settled down with her dear husband, Robert E. Lappin Jr. in 1974. Nancy and Robert remained faithful partners to each other for 36 years until his passing in 2011. Nancy helped Robert raise his sons, Mark and John, until their teen years. They enjoyed visiting friends and family, including Robert’s daughter, Linda Balduck (nee Lappin), in Utah. Nancy will be missed by her many nieces and nephews, Deborah (Bill) Ledger, August J. (Bernadette) Calabro, David (Lyn) Calabro, Thomas (Ruth) Calabro, Camille (Keith) Smith, John Calabro, and Linda Polizzi.
She will also be missed by her grandnieces and grandnephews, Nichole, Sara, Lily, Mary, Joe, Tommy, Rachel, Caleb, Daniel, Hannah, Bethany, Benjamin, Nathan, Kayra, Eren, Bryce, Rose and Theresa.
Nancy was a faithful congregant at St. Pio of Pietrelcina Parish at 18720 East 13 Mile in Roseville. John 3:16 “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life.†May the Lord rest her soul.
Services will be held at A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr, Warren, MI on Thursday, January 21, 2021. Visitation from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm. A service will be held at A.H. Peters Funeral home from 1:00 pm to 2:00 pm. Interment will be at Resurrection Cemetery, 18201 Clinton River RD, Clinton Township, MI 48038. At 2 pm there will be a funeral procession to Resurrection Cemetery for a short prayer service.
