Nellie Marie Smith

Nellie Marie Smith, age 95, of Eastpointe, went home to be with the Lord, March 5, 2018. Beloved wife of the late William Estil Smith; loving mother of Joseph Smith and Sharon (Richard) Sunderman; proud grandmother of Michelle (William) Furest, the late Michael, Bryan (Vickie), and Melissa (Mitchell) Molesworth; great grandmother of Joshua, Jacob, Alexis, Timothy, and Jacob; dear sister of David Jones, Rev. Paul Jones, the late Lola Akins, Ted Jones, and Ray Jones; also survived by many nieces and nephews. Nellie was the oldest of her siblings and came to Detroit in 1940. She played piano for the Beniteau Church of God, sewed upholsteries for cars at Chrysler, and cared for her disabled husband for 20 years, The family will receive friends Thursday 2-9 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr at Masonic (13 1/2 mile) Warren. Service Friday at 10 AM at the funeral home. Burial at Cadillac Memorial Gardens East. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer's Association.
