Neonia Kourembana

Neonia Kourembana, affectionately known as Nina, fell asleep in the Lord on June 15, 2026, at the age of 86. She was held in the love and prayers of her family.

Nina was born on July 27, 1939, in Poros, Greece, to Alexandros Samohin and Eleni Ioannou. She lived a life marked by faith, family, sacrifice, and love. She was the beloved wife of the late Rev. Panagiotis Kourembanas, a Greek Orthodox priest, and her life was deeply rooted in the Orthodox Christian faith.

Nina made her home with strength and devotion. She cared for her family, welcomed others with warmth, and carried the memory of Greece with her throughout her life. To those who knew her, she was a mother, grandmother, relative, friend, and faithful Orthodox Christian whose presence brought comfort and love.

Her family remembers her for her love, her endurance, her prayers, her stories, and the quiet ways she gave herself to those around her.

Nina was preceded in death by her husband, Rev. Panagiotis Kourembanas, and her son, George Kourembanas.

She is survived by her daughters, Elena Lincoln and Alexandra Sheppard; her son-in-law, Nathan Sheppard; her grandchildren, Charles Lincoln, Peter Sheppard, and Stephanie Sheppard; and by other relatives and loved ones.

A Trisagion service will be held on Tuesday, June 30, 2026, at 5:00 p.m. at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.

The funeral service will be held on Wednesday, July 1, 2026, at St. Spyridon Greek Orthodox Church, 24301 Greater Mack Avenue, Saint Clair Shores, Michigan, with Fr. Leonidas Pittos officiating. Nina will be laid to rest at Gethsemane Cemetery in Detroit, Michigan.

Νεονία «Νίνα» Κουρεμπανά

Η Νεονία Κουρεμπανά, αγαπημένη σε όλους ως Νίνα, εκοιμήθη εν Κυρίω στις 15 Ιουνίου 2026, σε ηλικία 86 ετών. Την συνόδευαν η αγάπη και οι προσευχές της οικογένειάς της.

Η Νίνα γεννήθηκε στις 27 Ιουλίου 1939 στον Πόρο της Ελλάδος, από τον Αλέξανδρο Σαμοχίν και την Ελένη Ιωάννου. Έζησε μια ζωή γεμάτη πίστη, οικογένεια, θυσία και αγάπη. Υπήρξε η αγαπημένη σύζυγος του μακαριστού π. Παναγιώτη Κουρεμπανά, Ελληνορθόδοξου ιερέως, και η ζωή της ήταν βαθιά ριζωμένη στην Ορθόδοξη χριστιανική πίστη.

Η Νίνα αφιερώθηκε με δύναμη και αγάπη στο σπιτικό και στην οικογένειά της. Φρόντιζε τους δικούς της, υποδεχόταν τους άλλους με ζεστασιά, και κράτησε ζωντανή μέσα της τη μνήμη της Ελλάδος σε όλη της τη ζωή. Όσοι τη γνώρισαν τη θυμούνται ως μητέρα, γιαγιά, συγγενή, φίλη και πιστή Ορθόδοξη χριστιανή, της οποίας η παρουσία έφερνε παρηγοριά και αγάπη.

Η οικογένειά της τη θυμάται για την αγάπη της, την υπομονή της, τις προσευχές της, τις ιστορίες της, και τους ήσυχους τρόπους με τους οποίους προσέφερε τον εαυτό της στους γύρω της.

Η Νίνα προηγήθηκε στην αιωνιότητα από τον σύζυγό της, π. Παναγιώτη Κουρεμπανά, και τον υιό της, Γεώργιο Κουρεμπανά.

Την επιζούν οι κόρες της, Έλενα Λίνκολν και Αλεξάνδρα Σέππαρντ· ο γαμπρός της, Νέιθαν Σέππαρντ· τα εγγόνια της, Τσαρλς Λίνκολν, Πήτερ Σέππαρντ και Στέφανι Σέππαρντ· καθώς και άλλοι συγγενείς και αγαπημένοι.

Τρισάγιο θα τελεσθεί την Τρίτη, 30 Ιουνίου 2026, στις 5:00 μ.μ., στο A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, Michigan.

Την Τετάρτη, 1 Ιουλίου 2026, το προσκύνημα θα αρχίσει στις 9:30 π.μ. στον Ιερό Ναό Αγίου Σπυρίδωνος, 24301 Greater Mack Avenue, Saint Clair Shores, Michigan. Η Εξόδιος Ακολουθία θα ακολουθήσει στον ναό, με ιερουργούντα τον π. Λεωνίδα Πίττο. Η Νίνα θα ενταφιαστεί στο Gethsemane Cemetery στο Detroit, Michigan.
