

Patricia Jean Haug, age 90, passed away on Tuesday, October 27. She was born in Crawfordsville, Indiana to Donald and Marion Chew on January 19, 1925. Pat moved to Detroit with her mother at the age of two. She attended Carstens Elementary, Jackson Intermediate and Southeastern High of the Detroit Public Schools. She attended Wayne University where she received a BA in Journalism, an MA in Humanities and joined the Alpha Beta Pi Sorority. After college, Pat was employed by the Jam Handy Organization and then by the American Journal of Roentgenology, Radium Therapy and Nuclear Medicine. On April 12, 1958 she married Edward Haug and they made their home in St. Clair Shores, MI where they started their family. In 1964, they moved to Grosse Pointe Farms, MI where Pat established herself as a full time homemaker. After 50 happy years in their home in Grosse Pointe, Pat and Ed moved to Shorepointe Village in St. Clair Shores, MI. Pat was active in the community, particularly as a volunteer in the Grosse Pointe Public School System and her church. A lifelong Episcopalian, she was a founding member of St. Michael's Church where she volunteered in The Little Thrift Shop for more than 40 years. Her interests included folk dancing, supporting the United Service Organizations, spending time with family and friends, and reminiscing. Pat is survived by her beloved husband Edward, loving children Martha Haug, Mary Johnson (Lee), Barbara Haug and her adoring grandchildren Timothy and Karen Johnson. Memorial visitation with the family is scheduled on Saturday, November 7 from 3-8pm at A.H. Peter's Funeral Home at 20705 Mack Ave. in Grosse Pointe Woods. Memorial Service Sunday, November 8th 3:00 pm at St. Michael's Episcopal Church, 20475 Sunningdale Park, Grosse Pointe Woods. The Reverend Marianna Gronek will be officiating.
