

Patrick Murphy passed away on August 3, 2017 at the age of 92. He was born in Detroit on May 30, 1925 the youngest of eight children of Francis and Catherine (nee Heslin) Murphy. Patrick left high school early to join the Navy during World War II. He was stationed on a destroyer off of Okinawa in the Pacific Theater. Mr. Murphy retired as a bus driver for the city of Detroit after 35 years of loyal service. His boisterous and jovial personality made him everyones favorite uncle. He loved his family and was very close to his brothers. Patrick was predeceased by his wife Delores "Dee"; sons Francis and Patrick; and daughter Maureen. He is survived by his step-daughter Robin, and many loving nieces and nephews, and great-nieces, and great-nephews. Visitation will be held on Tuesday from 3:00 until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A prayer service will be held at 7:00 pm. Patrick will lie instate on Wednesday from 9:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 22851 Lexington, Eastpointe. Fr. Anthony Sulkowski will officiate. Interment will be held at Great Lakes National Cemetery in Holly. Memorial contributions may be made to the Capuchins, 1820 Mt. Elliott, Detroit, MI 48207.
