

Peggy Lois Giordano, age 75, died peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 13 surrounded by her family. She was born on October 30, 1934 in Corbin, Kentucky the daughter of Francis and Evelyn Baker. Peggy was a well know hairdresser in the Grosse Pointe area for many years. She previously worked at Meir & Werner on Fisher Road, then opened her own salon, Beauty Care Plus on Harper between 8 and 9 Mile Roads in St. Clair Shores. She sold her business in 2006 after 17 years and continued to work part time at Joli's, also on Harper in St. Clair Shores. Peggy was a very resilent, strong-willed woman, who won her personal battle over cancer nearly 40 years ago. The cancer reappeared two years ago. Peggy was a friendly and kind woman who was an outgoing, socialable woman who enjoyed her many friends. She also enjoyed travel and her family. Mrs. Giordano is survived by her long time companion, and former husband, Russell Giordano; her daughter, Deborah Culler; and two grandchildren, Jaclyn Saros and Jimmy Saros. Visitation for Mrs. Giordano is scheduled from 4:00 to 8:00 pm on Wednesday, June 16 at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. Her funeral will be at 12 noon Thursday at the funeral home. Rev. Tim Gocha from Warren Woods Church of the Nazarene will officiate. Interment will follow at the Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township. The family has suggested memorial contributions be made to the VanElslander Cancer Center, St. John Health System Foundation, 22101 Moross, Suite MOB 102, Detroit, Michigan 48236.
