

Phyllis Wilhelmena Roy died on Friday, November 9, 2018. She was born on Monday, February 28, 1927 in Shepherd, Michigan. She is the daughter of the late Herman and Frances Hoffman. Phyllis met her husband at a dance in her mid twenties. It was love at first sight. Her one and only future husband, Arthur Roy, went home that night from the dance and told his mother that he found the woman he was going to marry. Arthur and Phyllis were married and had 5 beautiful children. Phyllis was a registered nurse and worked for St. John Hospital in Detroit, Michigan. After their 3rd child, Phyllis stopped working and became a stay at home mother caring for the family. Phyllis is a member of the St. Basil Catholic Church in Eastpointe, Michigan. She was a generous philanthropist giving to several charities all of her life and would pray the rosary regularly. She loved to play bingo and she also loved to read. In her more senior years, it became difficult for Phyllis to read as she was legally blind but she could always see the cards when there were enough players for a game of pinochle. Beloved wife of the late Arthur Roy. Loving mother of James (Nancy) Roy, Kenneth (Susan) Roy, Robert (Carol) Roy, Cynthia Sape, and Cheryl (Daniel) Adams. Cherished grandmother of Terry Warren, Daniel (Tiffany) Warren, Michael Roy, Patrick Roy, Garrett (Brandy) Roy, Cassandra Roy, Emily (Steve) Blair, Kathryn Sape, Daniel Adams, and Brian (Amanda) Adams. Great-grandmother of Bella, Leila, Brooklyn, Dominic, Ben, Zachary, Alexus, Andrew, and Madelyn. Also survived by one brother, three sisters-in-law and many nieces, and nephews. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents and 8 siblings. Visitation will be held on Thursday, November 15, 2018 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road at Masonic, Warren, Michigan. Rosary Thursday evening. Instate Friday, November 16, 2018 from 9:30 am until time of funeral Mass 10:00 am at St. Basil the Great Catholic Church, 22860 Schroeder, Eastpointe, Michigan. Interment Resurrection Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan. Memorial contributions to the American Diabetes Association or to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
