Richard Allen Boor

Richard Allen Boor a resident of Warren, Michigan for 25 years and formerly of Detroit, died Tuesday, August 2, 2016 with family by his side at Henry Ford Macomb Hospital in Clinton Township. He was born December 15, 1917 in Jacksonburg, West Virginia the son of Thomas and Mary Boor. Richard was set up with a blind date by Dorothy's sister-in-law when Richard was on leave from the service. It was love at first sight and one week later Richard proposed to Dorothy. She promised to wait for him. Upon returning home, from serving during WWII, Dorothy and Richard married on January 13, 1946 and have shared 67 years of marriage. Before leaving for the service, Richard worked on a farm in Deckerville, Michigan. He joined the U.S. Army and served 4 years during World War II. He attained over 13, 000 hours of combat and received numerous awards and recognition. After the war, he joined the Detroit Fire Department on November 4, 1946 and retired as Captain on March 11, 1977. Beloved husband of the late Dorothy. Loving father of Larry (Sally) Boor, Philip (Pamela) Boor and Marlene (William) Wilson. Proud grandfather of Matthew (Hollie), Timothy (Kristin), Nicole (Christopher) Grabowski, Amanda (Brian) Pesti, Joshua, Jeremiah and Jacob (Laura). Great-grandfather of Tory Johnston, Ruby Boor, Chloe Boor, Nyla Boor, Xavier Boor, Julian Boor, Angelina Grabowski, Brianna Grabowski, Ethan Grabowski, Ella Holman, Riley Holman, Olivia Pesti, Erin Pesti and Ava Pesti. Brother of the late Sarah, William, James "Dillon", Margaret, Eugene and George. Visitation Friday, August 5, 2016 from 2:00 pm until 9:00 pm at the A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 32000 Schoenherr Road at Masonic, Warren. Funeral Saturday, August 6, 2016 at 10:00 am at the funeral home. Interment will be in Cadillac Memorial Gardens East Cemetery in Clinton Township, Michigan.
