I'm so sorry for your loss Carol and family. 
Dick was truly a blessing to our family and to me in my teen years offering me various odd jobs such as painting, babysitting and helping him move things and later a full time job repairing trains at the whistle stop. He was one of my dad's best friends and was around our house a lot. He had quite an influence on me. I kind of considered him a mentor. When I was a child I thought it was cool, him playing guitar in a band and working for general motors as a designer and also as an entrepreneur. Dick put in a good word for me at a model shop that later turned into my first corporate job.
  I learned to play guitar, got into a band and ended up working for general motors as a model maker at the tech center.  I have retired from general motors after 30 years December of 2021. There are many stories I could tell of my time with your family but I just want to say thank you again for blessing us and I'm sorry for your loss.

My 29, 30, 31 years loved going to this Store...it was a special thing we did either Sat or Sunday...spent hours in there. Thank you Claggett Family...sorry for your loss

The Claggetts were a second family to me growing up, with Mr. Claggett at the heart of all of it.  I have such wonderful memories of running around Woods Lane all day and then settling into a spot at their dinner table and giggling through the whole meal. I'll always remember his warm heart, his fabulous sense of humor, his generosity, and his obvious love and devotion to his family.  Thank you for all of that time and I wish you all peace. 

Mr. Claggett was a second dad to me! Growing up next door to him , was awesome! He would take Rick and I every where on Saturdays such as garage sales, flea markets, Arthur Treachers ( he was one of those Vinegar on fries guys!). He always made me laugh and I learned many lessons about life and business from him. He will truly be missed but I will never forget him and all he has always done for me!  Love you Mr Claggett. I have very fond memories of (uncle we called him) deke. From a very young age, I remember going to the stores they had, where they would fix and sell trains, and hang out with the cousins. I loved hanging out with the family, because you were all so sweet and kind. Uncle Deke always had that half cigar he would chew on, and they were always a lot of fun. All my memories of them were happy ones, he will be truely be missed.

 Prayers for the loss of Deke.  My husband Bill and I enjoyed a trip to the Whistlestop many years ago and always cherished that visit.  Bill and Deke are now blowing those train whistles in heaven together.
