Richard Neal Decker

DECKER, Richard Neal Age 89, of St. Clair Shores, passed away July 17. Beloved husband of Mary (Nee Rengers) for 65 years; loving father of Richard Jr. (Kim), Mary Beth Kalmar, David (Faye), Paul, Rita, Teresa, Jerry (Deanna) and Anne (Michael) Cecere; proud grandfather of 14 grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren; dear brother of Nestor J. (Marilyn). Son of the late Elizabeth and Nestor Decker; predeceased by his daughter Janine and sisters Dolores (William) O'Brien; Kathleen (George) Boyle; and Beatrice Evans. Richard attended Assumption Grotto Grade School and graduated from U of D High School in 1945. After serving in the U.S. Navy (1945-1946) he earned an engineering degree at Detroit College of Applied Science. His faith, love for family, honesty, and integrity were exemplified in his personal life, as well as his professional career at the family businesses of Hotchkiss Tool & Engineering and Precision Boring Company. Richard was an active parishioner and loyal usher at Assumption Grotto Church and a proud member of the Catholic War Veterans Albert C. Doyle Post 1346. Visitation Thursday, July 21, at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, from 2:30 to 8 p.m. (7 p.m. Rosary).
