Rita Virginia Zemenick (nee Koperska), passed away peacefully with her family by her side on November 6, 2019. She was 94 years old. The daughter of Adam and Antonina (nee Wroblewska), Rita was born on September 3, 1925 in Detroit. During World War II, Rita did her part for her country by working at the Packard plant which manufactured marine and aircraft engines for the war effort. The couple were married at 7:00 am on May 5, 1944 at St. Albertus Church in Detroit while Ted was on leave. Rita also worked as a waitress at the Brass Rail Restaurant and later became a saleswoman at Notre Dame Pharmacy where she worked for over three decades. She enjoyed her job and, as a "people person", she especially took pleasure in serving and interacting with customers. Rita also enjoyed decorating her home, spending time with Ted and her family at their cottage on Harsens Island, and traveling to Florida with Ted in the winter. Rita and Ted celebrated their 75th anniversary with a blessing at the Capuchin Monastery on May 5 of this year. Rita and Ted nurtured a close and loving family who will greatly miss her.
