Robert Hoffman

Robert Joseph Hoffman passed away peacefully on October 28, 2018 at the age of 88. He was born in Detroit on January 13, 1930; son of John and Katherine Hoffman. Robert married Jean Nadlonek on May 8, 1954 at St. Stanislaw Church in Hamtramck. The loving couple enjoyed 48 years together until Jeans untimely passing in 2002. Robert proudly served in the United States Army, in Europe, during the Korean Conflict. He retired from General Motors after over forty years as a tool and die maker. He loved working around in his garage and loved helping fix things for his family. He was an avid reader. His favorite thing was spending time with his family, laughing and sharing a few cold beers. His easy going, happy go lucky nature will always be remembered by his family. Robert was proud of his children Deborah (David) Philps, Michael (Nina), Ken, Sue (John) Smart, Gary (the late Delores), Barbara (David) Szelinski, Jim, and Kurt. He will be missed by his grandchildren Elizabeth, Stefanie, Kayla, Coleen, Jonathan, Candace, Sherry, Laura, Brian, Mary, Jeremy, Douglas, Michael, Kara, Summer, and Madison; and great-grandchildren Mackenzie, Madeline, Peyton, Morgan, Nicholas, Abagail, Luca, Leo, Ellie, Riley, Parker, Emma, Melanie, John, Jay, Jeremy, Chase, Colin, Lily, and the late Joe. He is survived by his brother Eugene and sister in-law Mary Jane Nadlonek. He leaves behind many many nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his siblings Rose, Peter, John, Leonard, Florentine and Bernard. A memorial gathering will be held on Wednesday, November 7th, from 1:00 until 9:00 pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Ave., at Vernier Rd., Grosse Pointe Woods. A Memorial Service will be held on Thursday, November 8th, instate 9:30 am until 10:00 am Memorial Mass at St. Isaac Jogues Catholic Church, 21100 Madison, St. Clair Shores. In Lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association at www.americanheart.org.
