Robert P. LaFave

Robert Patrick LaFave, age 76 of Cheboygan and formerly Sterling Heights, passed away November 24, 2018. He was born in Detroit on July 7, 1942; the son of Joseph Charles and Hanna Mae (nee McGuire) LaFave. Robert honorably served his country in the United States Army where he was stationed in Korea. Following his service he worked as an Underwriter for several different insurance agencies; including Firemens Fund and retiring from Travelers (formerly St. Paul) Insurance Company after 17 years of dedicated employment. Robert enjoyed fishing and all things sports, especially his local Detroit teams. He could become quite enthusiastic when watching the Lions, Tigers and Red Wings. Not only was Thanksgiving his favorite holiday for watching football, he also relished family, fellowship and food. He always had a great story to tell about his siblings and he loved his mother, wife and kids. Amongst a great many things, Robert will be remembered for being funny, smart and a good advice giver. He was a great deal of fun and always had a little sparkle about him. Robert is dearly loved and will be deeply missed. Beloved husband of the late Suzanne for 45 years. Loving father of Brenda (Randy) Scott, Antoinette LaFave and Michael LaFave. Dear brother of Theresa, Ralph, Donald, Lawrence, William, Mary, Catherine and the late Melvin, Duane, Doris, Charles, Paul and Thomas. Robert is also survived by many caring nieces, nephews and friends. Roberts family will receive friends for a memorial gathering on Saturday, December 1st at 10:30AM until time of Memorial Mass 11:00AM at St. Michael Catholic Church, 40501 Hayes Rd., Sterling Heights. Memorial contributions to IHM Sisters or Disabled Veterans would be appreciated.
