He was born on June 8, 1986 in Detroit to parents Arthur and Bonnie Marquez, marking the start of their family. Eventually, he would become the “cool older brother” to his siblings, Marc and Alyssa.
Rob would go onto school through the Harper Woods Public School System. Little did he know that he would meet his future wife, Debra, in middle school. What began as friendship grew into a high school romance, and together they built a life and a family of their own.
Rob was the biggest cheerleader for his daughter, Alexis, at her basketball games. If he wasn’t starting the crowd chants, he was arguing with the referee over a bad call, and everyone in the gym knew exactly who was cheering the loudest. With his son, Robert Jr., known to all as “Junior,” he shared quiet, happy hours fishing off the pier on Nine Mile.
Rob never did anything halfway. He loved to bowl, fish, shoot pool, and play poker and euchre, and he always had to be good at all of it. He was also a master of the grill and smoker, and nothing made him happier than feeding the people he loved with a perfectly smoked piece of meat.
Above all, Rob had a big heart and a good soul. He will be missed by all who knew him.
Rob is survived by his wife, Debra; children, Alexis Marquez and Robert Marquez Jr.; parents, Arthur and the late Bonnie Marquez; siblings, Marc (Amanda) Marquez, and Alyssa (Scott) Rippey; niece and nephew, Brody Marquez and Olivia Marquez; as well as many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
A visitation will be held on Thursday, October 29, 2026 beginning at 2pm, with a celebration of life to begin at 6pm at A.H. Peters Funeral Home located at 20705 Mack Avenue, Grosse Pointe Woods, MI.
