Robert Zigmund Zaliwski

Robert Zigmund Zaliwski, 73 of St. Clair Shores passed away the 19th of October. He was born May 15th, 1940 in Hamtramck. Bob graduated from St. Ladislaus High School, Hamtramck in 1958, and enlisted in the Army. While in the Army, he met and married Barbara McCune of Carrollton, GA. After his time in the Army, they moved back to Hamtramck. Bob then joined the Hamtramck Police force where he served as a patrolman for 21 years. During this time, Bob distinguished himself as a brave and loyal officer of the law receiving citations for bravery and marksmanship. He also worked security detail at North Detroit General Hospital for many years. Together Bob and Barbara raised five children Deborah Lynn (Craig) Serafino; Robert James; Paul Michael (Bonnie); Pamela Jean (Michael) Campbell and Derek Alan (Jennifer). Bob was an avid fisherman, who always seemed to be catching them , even when no one else could. Bob will be remembered for the passion and zeal he put into all of his efforts. Survived by his loving wife of 52 years, Barbara, five children, 14 grandchildren 4 great-grandchildren and his brother Gerald (geraldine). Bob was a loving husband , father and a great man taken much too soon, but he will continue to guide from above. Visitation Monday 2:00 pm to 9:00 pm at the A.H.. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack at Vernier Road, Grosse Pointe Woods, 48236. Funeral Tuesday at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church 21620 Greater Mack St. Clair Shores; instate 9:30 am until time of mass 10:00 am. Entombment will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery.
