So very sorry for your loss. We only got to know Roger a little in the recent years from seeing him at Robustos and Detroit Yacht Club. He was so into playing and made everything he did look easy. You could tell he was always enjoying himself. I always made sure to say hello to the band and let them know how much we enjoy them. They always packed the house! I heard about his illness awhile back, and was still awed by his spirt! Our thoughts are with you and the family during this difficult time.

Roger & I did some travel gigs with Blues Artist Eddie Burns. We went to the Pocono Blues Festival,where I played guitar & Roger played bass.Heading back to MI we got pulled over by the PA State Police.The cop wanted to know what had we been doing in PA. Roger said we were heading home after playing the Pocono Blues Festival & had met Charlie Musselwhite,Taj Mahal,& Buddy Guy. The cop said what do you play? Roger said bass & he plays guitar(pointing at me).Oh Yeah? Can I see your guitars,the cop said! We popped the trunk & opened up the cases. The cop told us to go back & wait in our car. After some agonizing moments, the cop then came back to our car and said "I'm letting you 2 guys off with a warning" and don't be in such a hurry to leave the state. We laughed about it all the way home - like it was a scene out of THE BLUES BROTHERS or something!!! We all loved Roger.He made me laugh! We'll all miss him and we'll never forget him. Roger was a kind and gentle man. I always enjoyed working with him. I fondly recall latenight conversations about music while on call @ Annapolis hospital. Roger will be missed, but never forgotten.

I first met Roger when we both worked at the Lafayette Clinic in Detroit. He was a member of the Psychobiology Staff and I worked in Administration. We shared many laughs during the work day with Nick, Russ, Jim and Judi. After hours we enjoyed concerts (Leon Russell in Ann Arbor) jazz, leisure time flying kites on Belle Isle and celebrating Roger's graduation from mountain climbing school. He was such an interesting, charming and enthusiast person to be around. My sister, Gloria, and I will always remember the fun times we shared with Roger. The world has lost a great individual - heaven has gained another angel. Roger's family is in my thoughts and prayers.

Diane, You don't know me, but I knew Roger when I was a child. I just happened upon his obituary and had write. My mother and Pauline were friends. We got our first dog from her. When I was 8 years old and Roger was maybe 13, we went to Florida with our moms for two weeks. It was great fun. Roger taught me how to swim. I'm not sure how much fun he had with an 8 year old tagging after him constantly, but he was so nice to me. We ended up in a pretty bad auto accident on the way home in Tennessee - you may have heard about it. The last time I saw him was when they wheeled him in to my room to say goodbye when he was leaving the hospital. I have not thought about him in many years, but his kindness to a kid when he was just a teenager himself is an outstanding memory. God bless you and your family. Dear Diane and Family: It was truly a privilege knowing Roger and I am a better person because of it. We worked together at Annapolis Hospital, and it was always enjoyable coming to work when he was there. He was one of the best, most complete CRNA's I've ever had the opportunity to work with, and his 'calm under fire' demeanor was perfect for anesthesia. We had fun talking about the surgeons (behind their backs), sports, and his music, and I regret that I never was able to see his band in action. He had every reason to be arrogant, but there was not a more sincere, down-to-earth guy around. Although he accomplished more in his 58 years than most people do in a longer lifetime, he deserved much more. He (and his distinct laugh) will not be forgotten, and you will remain in our prayers. Dear Diane and Family, I met Roger when I was five years old. My family had just moved to Balfour on the east side of Detroit and Roger and I soon became the best of friends. As a child Roger was the nicest kind of kid...fun, funny, very friendly to others, and a loyal friend. We had great times. We rode our bikes everywhere. We didn't have to stay "in the sub". We hiked all day up and down the streets and alleys exploring and having fun. School days would last forever...but so would the summers. Then my family moved away from Balfour when I was starting the sixth grade and, sadly, I eventually lost touch with Roger. But I never forgot him. Finally, within the last couple of years, we were able to reconnect with Roger and meet Diane. Roger had not changed from that wonderful kid I walked the streets with when I was a child. That was his gift. That is what I will remember. Roger will always be in our thoughts and prayers.

Dear Diane, Roger has left me with many fond childhood memories: picking fresh peaches off of Omi's trees, eating fresh pears in his Balfour backyard, summertime weeks at our house in Farmington Hills, playing in the water at Metropolitan Beach or Kensington Beach and all the family get-togethers. The star that burns the brightest Its been a lifetime -- that today feels more like yesterday -- since dynamic "Ro-jah" sat, crammed around Ma Scheuers kitchen table talking, laughing, debating late into the night with his inner circle of friends as I watched from the sidelines. Roger probably loathed Abba, but I cant help thinking, Those were the days, my friend. I suspect that, although Roger was one of those rare brilliant people who could have accomplished anything he set his mind to, his greatest legacy is found in those who are truly heartbroken over losing him, decades before his rightful time.
