Dr. Ronald William Bogen (Bogdziewicz), 79, of Lake Orion, MI (formerly of Grosse Pointe Woods, MI) passed away unexpectedly at home on Friday, October 10, 2025. He was born in Grosse Pointe Farms, MI on April 15, 1946 to William and Patricia Bogdziewicz.
Ron was beloved by his three children: Jeffrey Bogen (Clare), Thomas Bogen, and Dr. Victoria Boyd (David) and four beautiful grandchildren: Blaise, Edie, Thomas Jr., and Michael Bogen. Ron is survived by his four siblings: twin brother Thomas Bogdziewicz (Georgia), William Bogdziewicz Jr. (Kathy), Terri Kachmar (Ron), and John Bogdziewicz (Adriana) and cousin Michael Black (Pam). He has many loving nieces and nephews. Ron is predeceased by his parents William and Patricia Bogdziewicz, brother Clinton Bogen (Joan), and brother-in-law Ron Kachmar.
Ron was raised in both Detroit and Grosse Pointe Woods, MI and graduated from Austin Catholic Preparatory School in 1963. He subsequently received his Bachelor of Science from Michigan State University and Doctor of Dental Surgery from the University of Detroit. He practiced dentistry in Grosse Pointe Woods, MI for over 45 years. He was a past president of the Detroit District Dental Society and received many accolades and awards over his career. However, if you were to ask him about his career accomplishments, he would tell you that none of that was important.
The most important things to Ron were his faith, family, and helping people. Ron was active in his home parish of Our Lady Star of the Sea and served as a lector, eucharistic minister, and usher. He and his brother John were very involved in St. Joan of Arc Men’s Fellowship for many years. If Ron wasn’t practicing his faith, you would find him taking one of his children to an ice hockey rink or other sporting event or he was out on the golf course. He was quiet in his generosity to everyone. Ron was an extremely proud father and grandfather and made sure that his children were always provided for to accomplish their dreams. He made many contributions to his family, friends, and community and he will be forever missed.
A funeral mass will be held on Saturday, October 18, 2025. He will lie instate at 9:00 am with the Mass starting at 9:30 am at Sweetest Heart of Mary Roman Catholic Church in Detroit, MI with burial planned for a later date.
