Ronald N. Marsh

Ronald N. Marsh, age 87, died peacefully at Martha T. Berry Nursing Home in Mount Clemens on April 1, 2016. Ron was born on December 21, 1928 in Highland Park, MI; the son of Joseph and Susannah Marsh. He grew up on Detroit's west side and graduated Cooley High School in 1945. He enlisted in the US Marine Corps and was being transferred to Korea on a ship when the treaty was signed ending the war. Ron returned home after his two year hitch and worked at Jiffy Foods. He later worked for Briggs-Total Armored Car and retired in 1998 as a manager in charge of dispatch. Ron was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting, fishing and camping. He was a member of the Mount Clemens "Stinkers" Camping Club. Ron was a kind, gentle man who was referred to as "Blue Eyes" by the staff at Martha T. Berry. Ron achieved the rank of Eagle Scout when he was in school and was active in Boy Scouts during his adult life. He served as District Chairman for his region in 1971-1972. He was also a member of the St. Vincent de Paul Society at St. Peter Church in Mount Clemens. Ron is survived by his wife of 34 years, Jean (married October 15, 1982); his stepchildren, Susan McHugh (Mark), Jean Nord (Dave), David Pillette (Eileen), Mary Ann Popour (Ken), Kathleen Chauvin (Darryl) and Carolyn Pierpoint (Ed); seventeen grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren. He was predeceased by his sister Eilleen Proctor and grandson, Peter Pillette. Visitation will be held from 2:00 to 9:00 p.m. Monday at the A. H. Peters Funeral Home, 20705 Mack Avenue at Vernier Road in Grosse Pointe Woods. His body will lie instate at St. Peter Catholic Church, 95 Market Street in Mount Clemens from 11:00 a.m. Tuesday until mass begins at 11:30 a.m. Rev. Fr. Michael Cooney will officiate. In lieu of flowers the family has suggested memorials be made to St. Vincent de Paul Society, St. Peter Conference; 95 Market Street, Mount Clemens, MI 48043.
