

Ronald Louis Vallan, of Grosse Pointe Farms, passed away peacefully in his sleep the morning of November 10, 2020, due to complications from congestive heart failure. Ron was born in Detroit on April 9, 1946 to Dominic and Elizabeth Vallan, who predeceased him. He is survived by his loving wife of 50 Years, Susan, and his children Anthony (Shelly), Lisa (Michael Francescutti), and Ronald. Ron was a proud grandfather to Madison, Nick, Andrew, and Jake. He is also survived by his brother, brother-in-law, sister-in-law, and many nieces & nephews. Ron was well loved by many friends, employees and customers; whom he considered to be part of his extended family and treated them as such.
Ron began his tenure at Young Supply Company on January 21, 1974, working for his father and owner, Dominic A. Vallan. He moved to ownership of the company in 1981. Ron’s legacy with Young Supply Company as Owner, President, CEO, and Chairman of the Board is unmatched in the vision, leadership, and guidance he provided while moving the company from a local, Southeastern Michigan refrigeration wholesale distributor to one of the nation’s premier HVAC, Refrigeration, and Food Service Equipment wholesale distributors with 18 branches throughout Michigan and Northern Ohio. Ron was well respected in the industry, earning many awards and accolades for his service. For more than 15 years, Ron served on the Board of Directors for the Key Wholesaler Group Association, happily sharing his knowledge while helping dozens of other wholesale distributors across the country succeed.
A proud veteran, Ron served in the Air Force during Vietnam.
Ron loved traveling, cycling, squash, skiing, tennis, and working out. Ron was a longtime member of the Detroit Athletic Club and the Country Club of Detroit. He enjoyed art, design, architecture, shopping, fine clothing, and scenic drives along Lake St. Clair. Ron was a true food connoisseur who enjoyed eating at restaurants around the world. His love of food led to many friendships with chefs and others in the restaurant industry. Breaking bread with family & friends was one of Ron’s favorite pastimes.
Ron’s passion for life, trademark smile, and genuine interest in the well-being of others are characteristics that will be remembered by all who knew him throughout his remarkable life.
Due to Covid-19, services will regretfully only be for immediate family. A full military service and celebration of life is being planned for April 9, 2021.
