Ruth Helen Russell

Ruth Russell passed away peacefully at St. John Hospital in Detroit on September 11th. She was born on December 7, 1923 in Detroit; daughter of Leo and Irene (nee Klaus) Costello. Mrs. Russell was very active throughout most of her life. She enjoyed playing tennis, golf, and bowling. She loved to travel and enjoyed spending winters at the family's winter home in Boynton Beach, Florida. She belonged to the Lochmoor Club, Country Club of Detroit, and the Del Ray Dunes Golf and Country Club. She was a wonderful wife, mother and grandmother. Ruth will be missed by all that knew her. She leaves behind her husband Thomas of 62 years. She was proud of her sons Brandon (Nancy) and Scott (Elena). She adored her grandchildren Blake, Kelli, Tommy, and Lauren. She is survived by her sister Bernice Meller. Ruth was predeceased by her parents and her brothers James, Leo, and John Costello. Mrs. Russell will lie in state on Saturday from 11:30 am until the time of the Mass of the Resurrection at Noon at St. Paul on the Lake Catholic Church 157 Lakeshore Drive, Grosse Pointe Farms. Father Ray Arwady will officiate. Mrs. Russell's cremated remains will be interred at St. Paul on the Lake's columbarium. Memorial contributions may be made to the Van Elsander Cancer Center, 19229 Mack Ave., Grosse Pointe Woods, MI 48236.
