Salvatore (Sal/Sam) Mini, 75, of Warren, died peacefully at his home in the arms of his loving wife, Sharlene Mini, at 3:04 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 8. Salvatore was also surrounded by his daughters, Lisa Mini Sawyer, Lori Mini Fillmore and Lana Mini Chownyk. Son of Leonardo and Francesca Mini, Salvatore was born in Carini, Sicily. Along with wife, Sharlene Bush Mini, and his daughters, he is also survived by his loving brother Joe Mini, of Fremont, California and pre-deceased by loving sisters Nina Crifasi, Rosalia Mini and Josefina Mini. He is also survived by his adoring grandsons Jeremy Salvatore Sawyer, Kyle Sawyer, Tristan Fillmore, Nathan Fillmore, and loving grand-daughter Allie Sawyer, son-in-laws Matt Fillmore and Mark Chownyk, loving sister-in-law and brother-in-law Julie Kalso, Dave Kalso as well as his nieces and nephews, best friend Pete Geloso and other friends and family who loved him. An award-winning gardener and grower of figs trees, cactus and flowers whose home was honored by the Warren Beautification Committee and in-demand baker at Detroit Italian Bakery whose cannoli were once made for Ronald Reagan, Sal also loved to travel the country, explore various topography and visit casinos. He was a master and professional of artisan bread and Sicilian pizza baking, an avid golfer who golfed a hole-in-one, expert bocce ball player, liked to pull the occasional humorous prank and cherished his neighborhood and the neighbors in it. Sal also had a soft spot in his heart for all animals. Above all else, Sal was a loving husband and father who never complained of hard or extra work so as never to deny anything to his wife and daughters. Above all else, they had fun. Salvatore Mini, born on Christmas Day in 1937, will be profoundly missed. Visitation is 2-9 p.m. on Wednesday, Dec. 11 only with a Scripture Service at 6:00pm.
