

SOLOMON, SARKES S. March 15, 2016 Age 62 Beloved husband of Elisa. Loving father of Sarkes III, Diane Battani (David) and Elisa "E.C." Predeceased by his parents Sarkes and Theresa. Dear Brother of Joanne Herron (Brad) and the late Rosanne Solomon, the late Diane Solomon and the late Joseph Solomon (Terry). Legendary uncle of many nieces and nephews. Sarkes "Sark" Solomon passed away on March 15th surrounded by his loving family. Sark was born on February 5th, 1954 in Detroit. He graduated from Finney High School in 1972 and completed a few years of college. Sark married the girl next door Elisa "Lisa" Neme. They were married for 38 years. They had three beautiful children together; Sarkes III, age 36, Diane, age 33, and Elisa "EC", age 31. His proudest moment was when he recently walked Diane down the aisle and gained another son, David "Dave" Battani. Sark's children were his pride and joy. Sark loved and played many sports during his life especially hockey, baseball, and golf. He was involved and enjoyed coaching his son Sarke's hockey team for several years. Sark was an animal lover. His favorite dog companions included Lulu, Cass, Toby, and "Good time" Charlie. Sark found God and peace in nature. In 1994, the family moved to Sault Ste. Marie, MI. Sark was able to explore the rivers, lakes, and woods as a hunting and fishing guide. A yearly tradition began when extended family and friends wood come up to the U.P. and enjoy a variety of outdoor activities led by Sark. He taught many how to hunt, fish, drive a boat or four wheeler, shoot a gun or bow. All would enjoy a peaceful walk in the woods guided by him. Many bonfires lent themselves to storytelling opportunities where Sark would share his many adventures in the wild. The famous annual midnight BBQ's also provided many to experience Sark's favorite cuisine, his. He claimed he made the best food in the United States and Canada. He became known to all as the "Legendary" uncle. Other children were always welcomed as part of the family. They would stay for weeks or years- nephews, exchange student, hockey players, or friends all became family. The house was always welcoming with love, laughter, and of course his wonderful food. Sark loved people and was always there with a listening ear for others. He became brother, uncle, dad, cousin, or best friend. Everyone was close to his heart and was greeted with a hug or kiss. During the last years of his life he worked at Tender Care with the elderly and disabled. It was his way of giving back to all that helped his family. With love in his heart and smile on his face, this sweet man continued to give joy to those in need. Sark was a well loved man. He had an extraordinary gift of compassion for others. His loyal love for all was expressed through his actions, deeds, and service to others. As he journeys to Heaven his legend will live on and be forever within our hearts. Family and friends will gather Monday March 28, 9:30 am until time of funeral Mass 10 am at St. Joan of Arc Catholic Church, 21620 Greater Mack, St. Clair Shores.
